In an effort to spread financial education
Coastline has partnered with the Duval County School System and Matthew Gilbert
Middle School to offer students the opportunity to learn first hand how a
credit union works and the benefits of saving money.
Students (who applied and went through a job
interview process) were selected to perform various duties in this "Live"
Branch, from teller to member specialist to even branch manger. These student
run the operations of the branch with the supervision of Coastline Staff.
Student are able to bring in their money and deposit it into their credit union
share savings account.
Throughout the year we offer special
incentitives to the students to encourage them to save even more. All the
students at Matthew Gilbert are eligible to join the credit union. We've
designated a special account to the student named after their school's mascot
the Panther. This Panther Account only requires $1.00 minimum opening balance
to give everyone the opportunity to start saving.
